OBJECTIVE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Train operational staff to respond and manage incidents safely, efficiently and effectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The 3 day 24 hour course is a practical based course designed for staff with a responsible role within their organisation and who may be required to lead a response team following an oil spill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course is very practical based with a range of hands on exercises which are covered by a theory section. The course can be either be held at a training facility or at a suitable location, convenient for the delegates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the course there is a complete overview of techniques used to recover, contain and mitigate contamination following an oil spill. The course covers both large and small oil spill events so delegates gain a wide range of knowledge and skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course highlights the benefits of following a contingency plan and looks at how differing climates, shoreline topography, geomorphology and land\/marine use can affect a response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TARGET AUDIENCE: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course is ideal for Supervisors of response teams that have a responsibility for the management and clean-up of ports, harbours and shorelines in the event of an incident.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To give an overview of the main causes of marine oil spills.<\/li>
  2. To introduce to predicting behaviour and fate of spilt oil.<\/li>
  3. To give an overview of the response \u2018tool kit\u2019.<\/li>
  4. To allow students to become familiar with their contingency plan and their role within it.<\/li>
  5. To give students an understanding of the role of a beachmaster, including issues which may arise and management of an effective operation.<\/li>
  6. To give a basic understand of issues associated with spill response i.e. waste, health and safety and management.<\/li>
  7. To give practical experience of equipment available for response<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
