December, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 The Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim) and Ambipar, a global leader in environmental solutions, signed an unprecedented memorandum of understanding this Friday (12\/20), aiming to boost sustainability in the chemical and petrochemical industries. The partnership, initially set for 24 months, seeks to develop business opportunities for the chemical and petrochemical sectors related to environmental management, creating a constructive business environment to foster information exchange and identify potential contracts that may involve partnerships in Brazil and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement includes the development of projects with Ambipar’s two business units, Environment and Response. Services include SASSMAQ certification (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Assessment System), responsible action, and pro-chemistry initiatives. Additionally, decarbonization, circular economy, energy transition, environmental regeneration, financial inclusion, institutional cooperation, and other initiatives will be developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Ambipar founder and CEO Tercio Borlenghi Junior, the partnership with Abiquim represents progress for the industry as it will drive sustainability initiatives in the chemical sector. \u201cThis agreement sets a new business standard by expanding commitment to circularity, decarbonization, and energy transition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambipar is setting a new standard for sustainable businesses by offering solutions that support various industry segments in operating decarbonization, circular economy, energy transition, environmental regeneration projects, and initiatives to address and prevent climate emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abiquim is an active voice in the industrial sector on low-carbon neo-industrialization and Brazil’s potential to be a global leader in eco-efficient development, especially after the approval of carbon market regulation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protocol<\/strong>
The protocol was signed during the 11th edition of ExpoCatadores, where Abiquim also launched the campaign \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About Plastic,\u201d an initiative to promote dialogue about the socioeconomic role of this material and pathways to a sustainable circular economy. The theme is also part of the document signed with Ambipar, which presented Ambipar Circular during ExpoCatadores. In partnership with ANCAT (National Association of Recyclable Materials Collectors), the initiative aims to transform recycling cooperatives by accelerating businesses through the implementation of management systems and infrastructure for recyclable waste collector cooperatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chemical Industry<\/strong>
Providing raw materials and solutions for various economic sectors – agriculture, transportation, automotive, construction, healthcare, hygiene, and even aerospace – Brazil’s chemical industry is the most sustainable in the world. For every ton of chemicals produced, it emits 5% to 51% less CO2 compared to international competitors. Additionally, its energy matrix consists of 82.9% renewable sources, compared to a global average of 28.6%. This achievement was made possible through years of research, innovation, and improvements introduced by the chemical industry, such as equipment electrification, on-site renewable energy production, and transitioning from fossil sources to alternatives like ethanol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abiquim<\/strong>
Celebrating 60 years in 2024, the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association<\/a> is a non-profit organization that brings together large, medium, and small chemical industries, as well as service providers to the chemical sector in areas like logistics, transportation, waste management, and emergency response. The association monitors sector statistics, promotes specific studies on chemical industry activities and products, tracks and actively contributes to legislative changes to enhance competitiveness and development in the sector, and advises member companies on economic, technical, and foreign trade issues. Throughout its six decades representing the chemical sector, Abiquim remains a strong voice, engaging with stakeholders and seeking solutions to ensure the Brazilian chemical industry continues to excel as the \u201cindustry of industries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
