São Paulo, October 23, 2024 – Ambipar, a Brazilian multinational and global leader in environmental solutions, will bring the Circular Pack seal, the only one in the country with its own operation ensuring end-to-end traceability of post-consumer packaging, to Waste Expo Brazil, taking place from October 22 to 24 at Expo Center Norte, São Paulo. The event is the largest in Latin America dedicated to comprehensive solid waste management, recycling, public sanitation, urban sanitation, and sustainable energy generation.

Developed by Ambipar, Circular Pack is a reverse logistics certification that enables the correct disposal of recyclable materials, promoting social and environmental impact. The seal represents a commitment to sustainability and the circular economy and also serves as an environmental compensation certification for packaging generated for consumption, ensuring it reaches the correct destination and is recycled after disposal.

The reverse logistics certification ensures that the company complies with the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), established by Decree 12,305/2010. This federal legislation requires manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and importers to prove reverse logistics for at least 30% of the packaging they introduce to the market.

The compensation is carried out through the work of Ambipar, as a Managing Entity authorized by the Ministry of the Environment, by certifying invoices containing information on material type, collection location, and destination, ensuring integrity and transparency in the acquisition of legitimate credits, free of duplication and from reliable sources.

Based on sales information and packaging weight, the amount of paper, plastic, metal, or glass to be offset is calculated. Ambipar’s process covers the collection of materials from society on a national scale to their correct disposal, strengthening the recycling chain through cooperative inclusion and increasing the volume of recyclable materials.

“Through our work, we aim to be strong allies of the environment, helping companies meet their goals and improve their ESG metrics so that together we can make a significant difference on the planet, with resource savings and increased productivity,” explains Felipe Nassar Cury, Head of Post-Consumption at Ambipar.
