Ambipar, a leader in environmental solutions with operations in 40 countries, recently adopted a combination of robust cloud solutions including SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, SAP Sustainability Data Exchange, SAP Green Token, and SAP Sustainability Control Tower to drive the Net Zero economy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The new ERP-centered sustainability solutions, powered by Artificial Intelligence, will provide more powerful tools for end-to-end carbon management and establish a common data foundation, ensuring that Ambipar can effectively manage its environmental impact, streamline operations, and promote innovation while preparing for future growth opportunities.
“The SAP Sustainability Control Tower will be the midfield to connect finance and sustainability topics, demonstrating how this can generate risks for the business or add value to the company,” assesses Rafael Tello, vice president of Sustainability at Ambipar. According to the executive, the company wants to measure carbon emissions and is evaluating the expansion into other areas of focus, such as health and safety, waste, water, and energy, among others, to manage ESG effectively.
The implementation is in its early stages, but the company aims to standardize the data information of its clients to integrate reporting and generate more assertive actions in carbon emission reduction. Additionally, the embedded Artificial Intelligence in the solutions will organize the company’s environmental impact elements, providing the destination of carbon emissions, reflecting in positive sustainable results. With the adoption of this portfolio, the solutions can train AI models with the information Ambipar will collect to cross-reference with other data within its own environment, impacting various areas.
“We have five people dedicated to the pilot project involving four units of the company, two in Brazil, one in Canada, and another in the United States. The teams are divided between those collecting ESG information to input into the SAP system and those implementing the SAP Sustainability Control Tower. I believe this pilot will be successful, and we will expand it to the entire group as the project progresses,” explains Tello.
For Pedro Pereira, vice president of Sustainability for SAP Latin America and the Caribbean, the governance and transparency of SAP’s sustainability solutions are essential factors for Ambipar to adopt the portfolio. “We are a company that supports actions that positively contribute to the environment and add value to businesses through our technologies,” he concludes.
