Description of Training Material:
- Part 1a and 1b – General Procedures and Definitions: Overview of the hazmat regulations and applicability, training requirements and record keeping, HM segragation, violations and penalties, preemption, hazmat registration, security plans, hazardous materials program procedures and definitions.
- Part 2 – Hazmat Table: Use of the hazmat table and special provision, hazard classes and divisions, detailed explanation of each columm of the HM table, columm 1 symbols, proper shipping names, hazard classes and division numbers, ID numbers, packing groups, label codes, special provisions packaging authorizations from columm 8.
- Part 3 – Shipping Papers: Part 172 Subpart C Shipping Papers, preparation and retention, forms of shipping papers, description of hazardous materials, numbers and type of packaging, technical names, empty packaging, marine pollutants, hazardous substances (RQ), special permits, ER telephone number, shipping paper accessibility.
- Part 4 – Placarding: Part 172 Subpart F Placards, introduction and applicability, prohibited and permissive placarding, general placarding requirements, placarding tables 1 and 2, placard selection, dangerous placard, class 9 placards, providing and affixing placards for highway, affixing placarding for rail, bulk packaging, visibility and display of placards, general specifications for placards.
- Part 5 – ERG: Part 172 Subpart G Emergency Response Information, applicability and general requirements, information required, emergency response guidebook and color coded sections (yellow, blue, orange), indexing and determining applicable guide number, green section; isolation and protective and protective action distances, water reactive materials producing pin gases, incident reporting; immediate notice to NRC, detailed written report.
- Part 6 – Security Awareness: Training – Provide awareness of security risks associated with hazardous materials transportation and methods designed to enhance transportation security. Participant has successfully completed a test following each part.
