Ambipar Response assisted the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency (MCA) to deliver their local authority training exercise located in the harbour of Amble, the purpose was to give hands on experience with Spill Response to local authorities consisting of local council personnel, Environment agency members, local harbour masters, emergency services and harbour masters in the surrounding area.
A classroom was setup to deliver a lecture on the protocol for spill response for the MCA, and how their equipment is distributed and mobilised throughout the UK, the talk covered best and up-to-date practices in spill response, health and safety topics specific to the response phase, communications and inter-agency cooperation.
The practical event had three stations set up which covered the following topics, Beach deployment, Equipment Familiarisation & Shoreline Clean-up Assessment Techniques (SCAT) After which everyone had a go at recovering a deployed shore sealing boom from a quayside.
We hope everyone enjoyed the course and that they left with more of an insight into Spill Reponses techniques.
