Ambipar Response were mobilised by one of our Members following an incident involving an ISO-Tank containing Paraquat Dichloride ( UN 1760 CORROSIVE LIQUID, N.O.S (Paraquat) Class 8 PG3) which rolled off the back of a truck whilst it was manoeuvring after being transferred from a train. The ISO Tank was en-route to a vessel at Tilbury Dock for export when the incident occurred.
Paraquat is a toxic chemical that is widely used as an herbicide (plant killer), primarily for weed and grass control.
Project Works:
Ambipar Response sent a specialist hazmat trained response team to safely transfer the contents to a new ISO-Tank provided by the shipper.
All equipment was set up and a toolbox talk was held regarding the transfer and actions to take in case of any leakage whilst a specialist recovery company carefully up righted the tank which; was on its side.
Once up right, the tank contents were transferred using Ambipar’s specialist chemical transfer pumps and hoses, to a new ISO-Tank of the same type provided by the shipper.
Results:
Working in close cooperation with Freightliner and the tank provider, Ambipar achieved a rapid, safe and efficient product transfer with no pollution or spillage to the environment.
As a result of our rapid intervention, no significant delays to the shipment were suffered.
