At this weeks’s event, helded by the UN Global Compact at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the company spoke about its purpose in leading the transition towars a low-carbon circular economy and how society plays a key role in this transformation.
Faced with issues involving climate change, the director of Sustainability, Rafael Tello, highlighted the relevance of the private sector and other institutions regarding climate discussions, in addition to the transformation purpose, capable of guiding innovation and the establishment of partnerships as a way to reach it. In this context, the executive addressed the adoption of strategies to mitigate environmental impacts in actions that reinforce the commitment to reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
The director also highlighted the sustainability market’s vision for generating value for stakeholders as a basis for long term value, with the possibility for surplus national gains in competitiveness and prosperity.
Regarding the SDGs (Sustainable Deveplopment Goals), Rafael emphasized the platform as a fundamental instrument capable of guiding the business strategy and the growth of companies, following the concept of Shared Value. “It is a great opportunity to participate in events like this. Seeing people and companies looking for solutions to overcome challenges in favor of sustainable development is really motivating and only makes us believe even more in our mission”, concludes the director.
The event was held in partnership with AYA Hub and Money Report, sponsor of the Person of the Year (POY), and was attended by leaders from the Brazilian business sector and representatives of the Mulheres do Brasil group, led by Luiza Trajano, business woman honored as person of the year, by the Brazil-USA Chamber of Commerce. It ratified the launch of the Ambition 2030 program, of the UN Global Compact Brazil, which calls on companies to adopt concrete actions within seven axes connected to the United Nations SDGs: gender equality, access to water, decent wages, racial equity, decarbonization, transparency and anti-corruption, and mental health.
