Bio Scan achieved certification in all Greater Vitória units and will continue working towards continuous improvement in environmental actions.
It’s not enough to talk; action is also necessary. With a focus on this, Bio Scan has earned the first Green Seal certification in all Greater Vitória units. This certification verifies whether a company complies with ISO 14001 standards, which establish environmental management guidelines. This recognition contributes to the public’s perception of an organization that values conscious consumption in the services provided.
With this news, the Capixaba diagnostic imaging clinic is the first health clinic to receive the seal in Espírito Santo, taking another step towards establishing itself as a reference in commitment to ESG – the English acronym used to refer to environmental, social, and corporate governance practices within an organization.
According to the pharmacist and one of the project leaders for Green Seal certification, Geraldo Gomes, Bio Scan seeks various ways to comply with regulations and implement practices that contribute to sustainable, quality action, both for the sustainability of the company and the environment.
“Now, our commitment is to safeguard the maintenance of the seal in annual inspections and strive for continuous improvement in our processes,” he emphasizes.
The Green Seal is awarded to companies that undergo analysis by Ambipar Certification, an Inmetro-accredited company. (Ambipar/Divulgação).
This certification is granted to companies that undergo the analysis process by Ambipar Certification, a company accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality, and Technology (Inmetro), which evaluates organizations’ compliance with waste management, zero landfill practices, and circular economy.
For the environmental criteria assessment, the company undergoes an audit that analyzes the total amount of waste generated, the percentage of recycled waste, goals for reducing waste generation, investments in recycling programs, and engagement with stakeholders in waste management.
The pharmacist from Bio Scan explains that the Ambipar evaluation lasted two weeks, with about three days of visits to each unit.
“Even the clinics within Vitória Apart Hospital and Hospital Meridional also received the seal,” emphasizes Gomes, adding that this is a source of pride for all Bio Scan employees, clinical staff, management, and partners.
In the Meridional and Campo Grande units in Cariacica, the nurse quality auditor Andrea Guerra led the audit.
From her perspective, participating in the Green Seal achievement was natural and fluid, as the clinic had already been building a quality management system.
“Bio Scan has been tirelessly and continuously working to transform the world with sustainable actions, in a humanized way, with safety, and offering quality in services to patients, employees, and society,” evaluates Andrea.
She believes that, with this trajectory of excellence, Bio Scan itself has benefited from the gains, as this working methodology promotes a more efficient economy, with less waste and pollution, greater job creation, and a better distribution of environmental wealth.
“I am immensely happy to be part of this grand institution that cares and invests in the well-being of the planet, ensuring that all involved in its processes are treated fairly,” she states.
With a culture in constant growth, Graziele Matias, responsible for the company’s communication and media sector, comments on some of the most significant actions for changing Bio Scan’s internal culture. This is because, for her, the clinic’s commitment to Capixaba society goes beyond providing specialized services.
“The clinic has also had a responsive website for just over nine years, allowing patients and attending physicians to access results through online exam reports and images.
This avoids the need for special prints from the diagnostic area, in addition to reducing the consumption of specialized ink, radiographic films, and electricity,” explains Graziele.
According to her, these changes occurred gradually and are now consolidated in the internal culture. “Employees, technicians, and doctors understand the importance of having sustainable actions,” she emphasizes, adding, “The public often prefers brands that adopt a more efficient and modern practice but also respond assertively and support the cause of reducing input consumption, thus contributing to the health of the planet,” she analyzes.
Other examples of actions include distributing mugs and cups instead of disposable ones, upgrading to the latest generation elevators without a machine room, and installing solar panels that have contributed to saving energy consumption.
“We began our commitment when we started promoting campaigns that follow the ESG purpose. The Green Seal only confirms that the company has an efficient waste management system, from generation to environmentally appropriate disposal,” adds Gomes.
