In Brazil, INMETRO is responsible for establishing the technical standards applicable to products and services, while OCPs are responsible for evaluating and certifying these products and services, ensuring that they meet these standards. OCPs must be accredited by INMETRO’s CGCRE to offer their services in the country. This means that INMETRO’s CGCRE evaluates OCPs to ensure that they have the necessary technical skills and infrastructure to carry out assessments and certifications correctly and reliably.
That is, the OCP – Product (and Service) Certification Organization, which is a company that checks whether a product or service meets certain quality or performance criteria.
The Product (and Service) Certification Organization that operates in the field of waste management is responsible for evaluating and certifying companies or organizations that generate waste or use it in their process, considering the collection, transport, storage, treatment, or disposal phases. waste in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. This includes verifying that companies are complying with all applicable regulations and laws, as well as the quality and performance standards set by the OCP.
Ambipar Certification is accredited as a Certification Body (OCP) by the General Coordination of Accreditation (CGCRE) of Inmetro, being able to grant the Green Seal to companies from different segments. This seal attests that the institution has complied with the legislation — including the National Policy on Solid Waste (PNRS) requirements — and that it may have waste recovery and circular economy practices.
