Vice President of Sustainability at Ambipar, Rafael Tello, stated this Monday (28) that the government should cultivate an environment in the country where “sustainability is more attractive than unsustainability.”

The representative of the environmental management services and products company participated in CNN Talks Sustainability: The Potential of Rio de Janeiro, held in the state capital.

According to Tello, this “posture” from the government is one of the conditions for sustainable products to scale up in the country. In his view, however, other actors also have responsibilities: the private sector should invest, and society should “demonstrate” its desires.

The goal is to allow sustainable products and services to have fewer embedded risks and costs. “It is possible to be sustainable while generating results in companies,” the representative argued.

Tello also indicated that it will be crucial for this transition that the actors understand that climate change “is already happening.” He mentioned, for example, the floods that affected Rio Grande do Sul in the first half of the year.
