Training this March was held in the Shetland Islands, to assist the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency (MCA) in delivering their regional Spill Response Familiarisation course.

Day 1 – Theory

The theory was conducted inside with a presentation given on multiple topics of Oil Spill Response.

Boom configurations for different scenarios were discussed, weighing up the pros and cons of each layout.

Chains of command including how to activate the MCA counter pollution branch, the role of the Tactical Coordination Group and government protocol.

Day 2 – Practical
