The 3 day (24 hours) course is specifically tailored to meet OPRC requirements, with an emphasis on response strategies and stakeholder engagement. The course is designed for Government Ministers, Chief Executive Officers, Senior Administrators, Local Government Authorities, Board Directors from National Maritime Authorities, Harbour Boards, Port Authorities and Executives of Industrial Companies that deal with the production and transportation of hydrocarbons.

In many significant oil spill situations the response industry works in close partnership with local and national government operatives creating a requirement for high level integration between civil and commercial entities. Therefore executives, NGOs and government bodies need to have an understanding of the issues that may affect them following a significant spill which is covered throughout the course.

Delegates are not required to have experience of oil spill response situations however must have some knowledge of their industries contingency plan and incident/crisis management plans during such an incident.

The course is mostly theory based with a number of exercises which simulate and highlight some of the decisions management staff may face during an oil spill. As well as covering the executive role during a spill event the course also highlights the many different techniques of oil recovery and the outcomes based on past experience.

On successful completion delegates are awarded with a Nautical Institue accredited OPRC PSR Level Certificate (IMO Equivalent).
