São Paulo – December 17, 2024 – Ambipar, a global leader in environmental solutions, announced in a Material Fact on Tuesday (17) a strategic partnership with BWP, a forest services company advised by Itaú, for an environmental regeneration project in Vale do Paraíba, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The initiative aims to implement an integrated sustainability model with agroforestry systems and the recovery of permanent preservation areas (PPAs) and legal reserves.
The project will take actions to restore 100 km of ecological corridors to connect forest fragments to parks and conservation units in the region, promoting ecological connectivity and strengthening local ecosystems. The initiative also aims to protect more than 20 endangered species, ensuring the conservation of native fauna and flora. These measures are expected to sequester 6 million tons of CO2 equivalent and contribute to mitigating climate change.
Another expected impact is social, with the creation of jobs and income for approximately 400 local residents, stimulating the socio-economic development of the region by boosting investments in sustainable practices and strengthening the regional economy.
“The integration of nature, economy, and local communities promoted by the partnership between Ambipar, BWP, and Itaú BBA reinforces our commitment to the preservation of natural resources and environmental regeneration. With this initiative, we aim to reduce the impacts of climate change, which are already being felt in various parts of the world. This is a significant advancement with concrete actions that will generate positive and lasting impacts in the Vale do Paraíba region, in Rio de Janeiro,” comments Tercio Borlenghi Junior, CEO of Ambipar.
