The CDM is one of the flexibility mechanisms created by the Kyoto Protocol to help in the process of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or carbon capture (or carbon sequestration) by signatory countries.
Its objective is to achieve sustainable development in developing countries through the implementation of cleaner technologies in these countries. Projects can be based on renewable and alternative energy sources, energy efficiency and conservation, or reforestation.
