Covestro in partnership with Ambipar develops sustainable vehicle

In a partnership between Covestro and Ambipar, a route with a sustainable vehicle powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) is being implemented. This initiative aims to be less harmful to the environment compared to diesel-powered transport.

The action is part of the Sustainable Corridor project, developed by Ambipar. The project aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 15% to 20% from the logistics fleet on the collection route with Woodbridge, a commercial partner of the company.

It also highlights Covestro’s goal of achieving climate neutrality. The company aims to eliminate external emissions from energy sources and its own emissions by 2035. Looking to the future, Covestro aims to obtain 100% of its energy from renewable sources and, therefore, have a portfolio with 100% alternative raw materials.

Moreover, the plan of both companies includes reducing indirect CO2 emissions in processes across the value chain.

André Borba, marketing and sales manager of the Performance Materials segment at Covestro Latam, stated: “For us, circularity is seen holistically. While we work on reducing emissions in our production and in a portfolio with materials from alternative sources, we seek partners who see the value in this important mindset shift.”

To this end, Hélio Matia, vice president of strategic development at Ambipar, explains: “Covestro and Ambipar are looking to implement a route with gas-powered vehicles to contribute to the environment and reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. This initiative is also a way to combat climate change and is part of the 2030 Agenda.”

Woodbridge, with this sustainable action, aims to achieve emission neutrality by 2040. It aims to contribute to carbon neutrality goals along with its partners, suppliers, and customers. For the future, Woodbridge is working on developing new technologies.
