The Brazil Network of the UN Global Compact will hold the Ambition 2030 event on April 25, which marks the launch of the institution’s strategy for the coming years. The initiative will bring together the main CEOs and leaders of the Brazilian private sector at the Hotel Rosewood São Paulo, in the city of São Paulo. In addition to the audience, Jeffrey Sachs, American economist specializing in sustainable development, Sanda Ojiambo, global CEO of the UN Global Compact, and Silvia Rucks, resident coordinator of the UN System in Brazil, are also confirmed.

The dinner also marks the opening of the event space at Rosewood São Paulo. Located on the lower ground floor of the venue, Matarazzo Ballroom is an elegant event space intended to host the best social and corporate gatherings in town. The hotel occupies the premises of the emblematic Matarazzo Maternity Hospital, as well as an impressive new tower with a vertical garden. The transformation of historic buildings is rooted in sustainability and makes Cidade Matarazzo the largest revitalization project in Brazil, focusing on the celebration and protection of cultural heritage and the environment.

Rosewood São Paulo is committed to preserving Brazil’s natural environment, with sustainability as one of the guiding principles of its development. The sustainable features implemented in the project of the property include a biodiversity program that repopulates the flora and fauna of the Atlantic Forest, including 250 trees of up to 14 meters in height placed vertically in the Atlantic Forest Tower.

“It is very symbolic for us to welcome the Global Compact at the inaugural event of our event center. We created the Matarazzo project to raise awareness of the environmental catastrophe and accelerate the mobilization of society to restore balance with nature. Human beings are in danger! All governmental, institutional and individual actions aimed at sustainability are essential for the preservation of our species”, said Alexandre Allard, founder of Cidade Matarazzo.

On the same night, Ambition 2030 will be unveiled, a strategy of the UN Global Compact for business engagement with concrete initiatives, proposals for actions, goals and commitments in areas such as climate change, human rights, employee mental health, water management and gender equity and racial ethnicity.

“We need to act. And we need to do it now. All public and private persons and entities must do their part in the most diverse areas. We need to build ambitious goals for the future, but also for now. We know that the Brazilian private sector is increasingly engaged and we count on businesswomen and entrepreneurs in the construction of goals and concrete actions so that we reach the Sustainable Development Goals in the best possible way”, says Carlo Pereira, executive director of Rede Brasil. “For the Global Compact, it is very important to bring together leaders at the launch of Ambition 2030 so that together we can make a difference. This event at Rosewood São Paulo is a significant milestone for Brazilian business leaders”.

In addition to Rosewood São Paulo, the event is supported by Ampibar, the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Brasil).

“Ambipar, a multinational, contributes to making companies and society more sustainable. To help us in this challenge, we have established a long-term partnership with Rede Brasil do Compacto Global so that we can advance the ESG agenda in favor of the SDGs. We understand that collective and ambitious action to achieve the SDGs in Brazil is urgent. That’s why we started this partnership with the support of this event, which is a great call to the main business leaders in the country to work together to make Brazil a global leader in promoting a low carbon circular economy, generating much needed income and jobs. for our people.” comments Rafael Tello, sustainability director at Ambipar.
