Ambify by Ambipar performs greenhouse gas offsetting of the largest blockchain event in Latin America

Ambipar – a leading Brazilian multinational in environmental management, through Ambify – offset the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the largest event in Latin America. The Blockhain Rio Festival took place from September 1st to 4th, at Pier Mauá, in Rio de Janeiro, and had 100% of the emissions generated by the activities of the event offset, from energy consumption, displacement of workers to the use of vehicles for the assembly and disassembly of equipment for example. It is estimated that more than 100,000 kg of CO2e were offset.

For the calculation of CO2 emissions, the Ambify technology was used, which is based on the Brazilian Program of the GHG Protocol and audited by SGS, based on information gathered by the event organizers. The carbon credits used to offset this event are certified by Verra’s VCS Program, the largest international certification authority for carbon credit projects in the voluntary market.

For Ambipar’s Director of Digital Assets, João Valente, this was a great opportunity for the company. “We are happy to have participated in an event that has everything to do with one of our businesses and, in addition, to contribute to the development of technologies that can engage society in the construction of a low carbon economy”, emphasizes the executive.

BlockChain Rio had a great hub for debates, education and business focused on connecting people and companies with an eye on the present and future of the blockchain market. Over the four days of the event, participants had an immersive and transformative experience through debates on technology, business, culture and sustainability. There were more than 180 exhibitors and 200 renowned speakers in the international market.
