On World Water Day, Ambipar showcases its initiatives for reuse, providing visibility and promoting actions in other businesses of the multinational.
Throughout the year, Ambipar, the leading Brazilian multinational in environmental management, implements the “High-Performance Capture, Treatment, and Reuse System” project, used by the company to supply the tanker trucks used in emergency services in the Nova Odessa region (SP), where its headquarters are located, as well as in facility cleaning, vehicle, machinery, and truck sanitization, and garden irrigation.
With around 75,000 used gallons and a storage capacity of 100,000 liters, the system treats and provides water for both potable and non-potable purposes. All commands are automated and accessed remotely via mobile devices.
“Taking into account the region’s rainfall index, which measures around 1,317.1 mm/year, our expectation is to reuse 1.5 million liters of water per year, equivalent to 75,000 gallons of water,” explains Gabriel Estevam Domingos, Director of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) at Ambipar.
Additionally, Ambipar also protects water resources and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through monitoring and preservation of water resources, recommending preventive or corrective actions in ports and ships to avoid water contamination or prevent environmental accidents. Studies are also conducted to indicate the water quality for marine life through bioindicators, along with a multidisciplinary technical team, always proposing operational improvements to the productive processes of major industries.
With operational bases in major Brazilian ports—both maritime and riverine—Ambipar responds to emergencies with multidisciplinary teams composed of technicians specialized in handling hazardous substances, including oil and chemical spills.
The cisterns at the Nova Odessa facility (image) were adorned with thematic illustrations of the water cycle in 2021, featuring examples of reuse to engage and bring more visibility to the cause. The paintings were created by the Ciclo Social Arte NGO, located in Greater São Paulo, which develops projects that transform spaces using Graffiti, a powerful artistic expression that stimulates imagination, reclaims, and provokes the environment it occupies. The murals go beyond simple wall paintings, bringing together artists and aiming to make art accessible.
