São Paulo, September 2024 – Ambipar, a Brazilian multinational and global leader in environmental solutions, has been using all its expertise, equipment, and technology to combat wildfires alongside public agencies and private companies with facilities in regions affected by fires across the country.

Ambipar has been conducting all aerial work, using medium-sized aircraft to combat wildfires in the North and Central-West regions. In addition to assisting with the logistics for transporting firefighting teams to restricted locations, the aircraft drop large volumes of water in hard-to-reach areas to reduce the temperature of the site, supporting the work carried out by ground teams. The company also acts preventively, using an organic product that is deposited in areas at risk of wildfires.

In its work with private companies, Ambipar has received a high number of requests to operate in the Southeast region of the country to combat fires. For these demands, Ambipar Response CEO Rafael Espírito Santo explains that the company has aircraft of all sizes, as well as robots that can reach more dangerous locations to avoid putting professionals in risky areas. “We also work with long-range cannons, use technology that slows the advance of the fire, and have ground support with a specialized team,” reports Espírito Santo.

The executive emphasizes that Ambipar is a leader in crisis management and response to environmental emergencies across all scenarios (forest, maritime, road, river, rail, industrial, pipeline) involving hazardous materials, wildfires, industrial fires, oil spills, and medical emergencies, meeting all legal requirements efficiently and safely.

Highlight Professional – Jerusa Cristiane Alves

One of the professionals standing out in the company’s aerial operations in the current fight against fires is Commander Jerusa Cristiane Alves, who has been a pilot since 2010. She has been inspiring at least six other co-pilots who are being trained by Ambipar to advance in their careers. Jerusa points out that now, “the biggest challenge is the fact that all of Brazil is burning at the same time, in addition to the smoke that restricts visibility to operate in the airspace.” Recently, she participated in combating fires in the Pantanal (MS) and will be involved in firefighting operations in Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO) in the next two weeks.
