One of the main arms of the Ambipar Group, Boomera, a Brazilian Circular Economy company focused on transforming waste into recycled raw materials, was one of the most searched B-Corp Certified organizations on Google in 2021. According to website research data, the company ranked 10th globally and was the first Brazilian company in searches on the platform for eco-friendly institutions, led by Moodle, Coursera, and TOMS.

B-Lab, a non-profit network that transforms the global economy for the benefit of all people, is responsible for creating and validating the B-Corp Certification, which assesses companies around the world that meet the highest standards of social, environmental, transparency, and legal performance. To obtain the certification, the company must have practices aligned with the principles of the movement, committing to follow established management standards and generating environmental and social benefits beyond economic ones.

“Being recognized globally for our socio-environmental impacts is a great joy for us. We work on transforming waste into raw materials always in the cleanest and most beneficial way for the environment. Focused on following the B-Corp principles, we know that our company, together with partners pursuing the same goal, makes a difference for society and the planet,” says Guilherme Brammer, CEO and founder of Boomera.

Boomera has its proprietary methodology, CircularPack, which has already received important international awards, such as recognition from the World Economic Forum and the Schwab Foundation. Through it, the company has already managed to divert more than 146,000 tons of waste from landfills and dumps and has benefited over 8,000 cooperatives of waste pickers with its projects.

The Google research also reveals that Brazil is the fifth country with the most B-Corp organizations, signaling an increase in environmental concern, but also representing credibility and security when offering services to customers. Besides the environmental benefits present in the declaration guidelines, companies that obtain the certification have a competitive advantage due to the fact that the business guarantee must be based on high standards of sustainability, impact, and a way to stand out in the market compared to competitors.

“We realize that there is a constant evolution of the market related to global changes, meaning that companies and consumers are increasingly aware that we need to take conscious actions that help the planet. And this is reflected in the increased demand for products and services that can offer true impacts,” Brammer concludes.
