Founded in 2008, ControlPar, based in the state of Espírito Santo, is a holding company that controls six other companies specializing in environmental consulting and operations, with a focus on accident prevention, risk and environmental damage mitigation, environmental monitoring, and compliance with legal requirements.
Over its 13 years of operation, the company has executed more than 720 projects for various industry sectors such as oil and gas, mining, energy, infrastructure and logistics, ports and terminals, sanitation, steelmaking, petrochemicals, beverage, and pulp and paper industries.
ControlPar operates uniquely and integrally as a Global Environmental Solutions (GES) platform, offering comprehensive and innovative environmental products and services to its clients. It covers everything from location alternatives studies for enterprises, environmental licensing, construction management, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) to the execution of environmental programs, management of contaminated areas, effluents, and solid waste. The company aims to innovate in the technical delivery of its products and services through the development of digital tools and geotechnologies, which has led to partnerships with ESRI®, a manufacturer of software and geoprocessing systems, and the technology companies within the Ortbigeo group.
Apart from its headquarters in Vitória (ES), the company has a commercial office in Natal (RN) and operational bases in Mossoró (RN), Catu (BA), and Serra (ES). Its integrated management system is certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
With the acquisition, Ambipar aims to expand its structure, hire more professionals, and acquire materials and equipment for services related to contaminated areas, environmental licensing, monitoring, surveys, hydrography, and oceanography. In addition to reinforcing its portfolio in Brazil, including a presence in the Northeast, ControlPar also seeks to expand its international operations. This is due to its branches in 18 countries, with over 300 bases.
Furthermore, the environmental risk assessment, surveying, and investigation operations of the company will strategically complement the emergency response services of the Ambipar subsidiary. This will provide state-of-the-art tools for identifying contaminant plumes and in situ remediation technologies, which involve treating contamination within the study area itself, without removing the contaminated material for treatment. These technologies will be applied to accidents on highways, railways, waterways, pipelines, and industrial plants.
“The company has a very close operational synergy in the development of engineering projects focused on industrial decommissioning and environmental accident prevention. It will bring in a robust and highly specialized technical team that will work on environmental licensing of industrial projects, investigation of contaminated areas, geoprocessing, atmospheric and hydrodynamic plume modeling,” the company stated.
The acquisition of ControlPar strengthens Ambipar’s mergers and acquisitions agenda. Following the merger, the company will be named Ambipar Response Espírito Santo S.A.
