September 12 to 14 – Expo Mag in Rio de Janeiro
The first day of the Blockchain Rio Festival 2023 (September 12, 13, and 14) at Expo Mag, Cidade Nova, was marked by discussions related to innovation and transformation in agribusiness and the oil, gas, and energy industry. With eight different stages, the largest Web3 event in business and trends brought together about 3,000 visitors on the first day.
At the opening, the Blockchain Gov Forum, organized by BNDES and conducted by Helena Tenório, presented themes related to the use of innovative technologies by governments. Following that, the spotlight was on the agro panels: ‘Opening of the XIII PetroTIC Conference: technology connected with the Oil, Gas, and Energy industry’; ‘Startups and Technology in Agro’; ‘Digital Transformation in the Oil and Gas Sector’; and ‘Innovation Environments in Agribusiness.’
According to Senator Carlos Portinho, the Festival highlights Rio de Janeiro as a technology hub in Brazil: “Blockchain Rio adds to other major technology events, already in its second year of operation in the City of Rio de Janeiro, consolidating the city as the main hub for technology events in our country.”
The event also provides the audience with quality networking, partnerships between startups, investors, and companies interested in the global technology, innovation, and business ecosystem. “This Festival is the biggest business catalyst, known for promoting high-level connections with decision-makers of companies and opportunity generators. We stand out for being a native Web3 event, bringing together renowned experts in disruptive technologies,” shares Francisco Carvalho, CEO of Blockchain Rio, about the B2B event that brings together decision-makers from various industries.
Over the course of three days, 300 speakers, spread across 21 tracks, discuss the present and future of technological innovation. In addition to blockchain, the program also includes spaces for discussions on artificial intelligence, IoT, startups, entrepreneurship, metaverse, and much more. Visitors can experience immersive experiences, attractions, conversations, workshops, exhibitions, and activations that integrate technology, education, sustainability, culture, and entertainment. The estimate for this edition is to receive about 5,000 people per day, surpassing the last program held in São Paulo in June of this year.
The Drex at Blockchain Rio
Created by the Central Bank, the digital version of the Real is here to facilitate virtual negotiations and transactions in the Brazilian market. It’s worth noting that, for the first time, this topic will be the subject of discussions in exclusive panels during the three days of Blockchain Rio. With expectations, “Our bet for this edition is to bring the spotlight to digital transformations in the financial sector through Web3 technology. Throughout the event, we will promote a major meeting on this innovation ecosystem with five tracks that highlight the future of payments,” reinforces Francisco.
According to Federal Senator Carlos Portinho, DREX “was a significant step that Brazil took, pioneering the launch of its own digital currency, and I have no doubt that, over time, just as it was with PIX in the past government, the digital real will become part of our daily lives, making life easier for everyone and simplifying financial transactions.”

More about the power of blockchain technology
Blockchain technology is an advanced database mechanism that allows transparent sharing of information through linked and interconnected blocks. Without the possibility of modifications or deletions, the chronological order of records is maintained. Thus, blockchain becomes an inviolable tool capable of tracking orders, payments, and other transactions in different sectors and operations. These include the real estate sector, retail, e-sports, agriculture and livestock, urban mobility, libraries, among others. Traceability is even useful for lawyers.
