Real training!

A simulated accident involving hazardous materials was conducted by the Concession Program on SP-065.

To train teams for emergency response on highways, the Rota das Bandeiras concessionaire, under the supervision of ARTESP – São Paulo State Transport Agency, conducted a simulated accident involving hazardous materials and multiple victims on August 31. The activity took place on the service road of Rodovia Dom Pedro I (SP-065), kilometer 62+200, Southbound lane, and involved an accident between a truck and two passenger vehicles.

The training simulated the rear-end collision of a passenger car with a truck carrying ethanol. After a mechanical failure, the truck abruptly reduced its speed. Subsequently, another vehicle traveling in the same direction was unable to brake in time and collided with the car. The simulation involved eight victims, including one fatality, one severe injury, two moderate injuries, and four minor injuries. Approximately 80 people participated in the exercise, including teams from the Rota das Bandeiras concessionaire, Fire Department, State Highway Police, Cetesb, SAMU, Civil Defense, Ambipar, and others.

Simulations that replicate a real-time accident are conducted once a year by the concessionaires and are part of the contractual obligations of the State Road Concession Program under ARTESP’s supervision.

The objective is to measure the response time for rescuing victims and containing spilled materials on the road, especially when chemicals are involved. It also assesses the integration of the teams involved and the procedures adopted for implementing safety measures, which also include environmental preservation in cases of toxic substance spills.
