To expand the collection of recyclables, 20 Return Machines will be installed in different subway stations in Rio de Janeiro to collect plastic, glass, aluminum, steel and long-life packaging. The machines were installed at strategic points in the stations to encourage the population to correctly dispose of recyclable packaging, promoting environmental education and the circular economy.
To participate, it is necessary for the user to create a Triciclo digital account through the website or application. The account is free and will count tricoins, points from the collection program that can be exchanged for benefits. To accumulate points, simply deposit the packages in the machine.
The points generated by the correct disposal of packaging can be exchanged for credits for discounting the energy bill, cell phone recharge and public transport, for example. In addition, it is possible to redeem the tricoins, in cash, through the Pagbank account.
The installation of the Return Machine machines is a partnership between Ambipar Triciclo, Braskem and MetrôRio. Part of the material collected will be sent to Ambipar companies for the reverse logistics process. The polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) waste will be sent to Braskem, which will be responsible for forwarding these packages for recycling and transformation into post-consumer recycled resins.
The machines are now available at the following subway stations in Rio de Janeiro:
