In a week dominated by corporate news, Sanepar’s offer of R$217 million to maintain the basic sanitation concession in the city of Maringá, Paraná, stood out.

The CFO of Ambipar, Thiago Silva, stated in an interview with TC Rádio that the company will remain focused on acquisitions as an expansion strategy, especially in the United States, in the short term.

Regarding acquisitions, AES Brasil is evaluating the purchase of assets from the clean energy investment company Cubico, according to sources from Scoop by Mover. Check out the details on the most read news of the week!

Investment by Sanepar in Maringá

The Paraná Sanitation Company caught the attention of investors last week by making an offer of R$217 million to the municipality of Maringá, in an attempt to maintain the contract for water supply and sewage treatment services in the city.

The company can renew the contract until 2040 if the agreement is accepted by the Public Ministry of Paraná and the municipality. The information was reported by Scoop by Mover and confirmed last Friday, the 29th, through a relevant fact disclosed by Sanepar.

Sanepar’s preferred shares (SAPR4) accumulated a loss of 0.47% during the week. Year-to-date, the company’s shares appreciated by 3.79%.

Acquisitions by Ambipar

Ambipar will continue investing in acquisitions to boost its expansion, stated Thiago Silva, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, in an interview with TC Radio. Additionally, the executive commented that the short-term growth focus is on the United States market.

In Brazil, efforts will be concentrated on acquisitions through Ambipar Response, a subsidiary specialized in crisis management and emergency response for environmental, chemical, and biological incidents.

Silva emphasized that the expansion of the company’s presence in other Latin American countries is the responsibility of another Ambipar subsidiary, Environmental ESG, which is involved in waste reuse, for example.

The executive justified that the cancellation of the initial public offering (IPO) of Environmental ESG, which was scheduled for September, was due to market conditions. According to Silva, Ambipar is “calm” and not in a hurry to resume the process as the company is well-capitalized and has the capacity to grow through mergers and acquisitions.

Ambipar’s common shares (AMBP3) accumulated a 6.26% increase during the week.

AES Brasil eyeing Cubico’s power plants

AES Brasil also made headlines with news about potential acquisitions. The company is studying the wind power plants of the clean energy investment company Cubico and is considering a possible offer to purchase the assets, according to information from sources at Scoop by Mover.

Cubico has wind farms in Brazil with a total capacity of almost 500 megawatts and also holds renewable generation assets in other countries such as the United States, Greece, and Spain.

AES Brasil’s common shares (AESB3) had a weekly gain of 0.64% and decreased by 8.22% in April.
