A partnership between Ambipar Triciclo and the Fecomércio RJ System will install machines in the Sesc and Senac RJ units throughout the state.
The expansion of the Ambipar Triciclo projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro has received a new boost with the installation, starting this month of March, of “Retorna Machine” devices in the Senac RJ and Sesc RJ units, through a contract signed with the Fecomércio Institute of Sustainability (IFeS). In the Serrana region, the machines will be installed in freely accessible areas in order to expand the collection of recyclable packaging among the public in Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Nogueira, and Nova Friburgo.
Six types of post-consumer packaging will be collected: aluminum, steel, PET plastic, long-life packaging, glass, and general plastics, surpassing an old challenge of gathering a greater range of packaging to be collected in a single device.
The installation of the machines is in its final phase and will allow not only students and visitors of Senac RJ and Sesc RJ but also the surrounding public to make use of these eco-points to adopt a more sustainable and environmentally conscious routine.
Felipe Lagrotta Nassar Cury, CEO of Ambipar Triciclo, believes that the initiative between the companies creates a strong power of engagement and a sense of urgency regarding environmental preservation issues. “As a company, we have a fundamental role in society when it comes to environmental preservation. We need to preserve today, and in this context, environmental education is essential, especially for the generations that will determine the future of our survival,” comments the executive.
“The IFeS was created by Fecomércio RJ to boost sustainability actions for the trade of goods, services, and tourism sector in the state. The partnership with Ambipar Triciclo will contribute to our mission of reducing waste and strengthening the practice of waste recycling,” says Vinicius Crespo, executive director of IFeS.
The ‘Retorna Machine’ devices will be installed in the following units: Senac Petrópolis, Senac Teresópolis, Senac Nova Friburgo, Sesc Alpina, Sesc Nogueira, Sesc Nova Friburgo, and Sesc Teresópolis to collect post-consumer packaging such as plastic, glass, aluminum, steel, and long-life packaging. Through barcode scanning, they read the deposited material and then calculate the score for each item. These points are called ‘Tricoins’ and become available to those who create an account on the Triciclo website or app. Recycling the packaging generates credits for mobile phone top-ups, products at Livraria Saraiva, or cash redemption through an account opened with Pagbank and Mercado Pago. In addition to these benefits, the partnership between Ambipar Triciclo and Fecomércio RJ promises to soon provide the exchange of Tricoins for discounts on Senac RJ courses.
Ambipar Triciclo has been operating in the market since 2016 with the mission of creating and operating solutions for sustainable development through the monetization of the reverse logistics system, customer loyalty, and an advanced marketing system. Its majority control was acquired by the Ambipar Group in 2021 and operates projects such as ‘Retorna Machine,’ ‘Recicla Pharma,’ and ‘Deixaki,’ all linked to the Triciclo Loyalty Program. In this program, the collected packaging is worth Tricoins, which can be exchanged for benefits such as bookstore discounts, telephone credit, digital account credit, and more. All collected material is processed by Ambipar Triciclo itself for delivery to cooperatives and recycling companies. In six years of operation, it has already collected over 25 million post-consumer packages, generating income, raw materials, and employment.

Founded in 2021, one of the main objectives of the Fecomércio Institute of Sustainability (IFeS) is to establish a safe alternative for the implementation of programs that promote social and environmental entrepreneurship, as a means to promote human, business, and institutional growth, thus optimizing sustainable practices present in the relationship between entrepreneurs and consumers in the commerce of goods, services, and tourism in Rio de Janeiro. The foundation of IFeS establishes the understanding that sustainability goes hand in hand with and in parallel to economic development, ensuring the maintenance of a business aligned with current laws and consumer expectations, which are increasingly demanding of ethical and environmentally sustainable company behaviors.
