This Sunday (23), after 60 days of incubation, several turtles of the Cabeçuda species were born on Enseada beach, in Rio das Ostras.
Fishermen spotted the first hatchlings during the early hours of the morning and notified the City Hall teams, who called biologists from the Ambipar project. Together with officials from the Department of the Environment, they opened the nest and were surprised to see more than one hundred turtles ready to go to sea.
During the opening of the nest, the biologists explained to the population that watched, more details of the species and the procedures for saving the animals. In the late afternoon, after counting and analysis, the turtles were released close to the sea for the final race towards freedom.
