The company will promote its first glass recycling center in Brazil, which will be built in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in partnership with Ambipar.
The governor Raquel Lyra participates in the ceremony announcing the installation of the first recycling center for glass promoted by the Heineken group in Brazil this Wednesday, November 6.
The space will be built in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in partnership with Ambipar, and will involve significant investments.
The site will be responsible for processing tens of thousands of tons of glass annually and demonstrates the economic and sustainable potential of the state to attract new investments.
The Heineken Group officially announced in May 2023 that it will triple the production capacity of three beer brands at its facility located in Igarassu, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife (RMR).
The investment, totaling R$ 1.2 billion, will secure one thousand jobs. The local factory will also become the company’s first to meet the water consumption target ahead of schedule.
The formalization of the investment, coordinated by Governor Raquel Lyra, took place at the Palácio do Campo das Princesas with the presence of Mayor Professor Elcione Ramos, Heineken’s Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Mauro Homem, as well as representatives from the group, state deputies, and secretaries.
Mayor Professor Elcione’s administration has invested in the qualification of its population for the workforce of major investments in the municipality, through free courses and training programs.
Igarassu was the first city to receive a program from the institute, which trained 150 young people last year through WeLab, a free personal and professional learning journey that trains young people aged 18 to 24 in socially vulnerable situations.
