Ambipar and Dow announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore business opportunities that transform post-consumer plastic waste into new products in Latin America. By 2030, the partnership aims to lead polyethylene recycling in Brazil, increasing operations from 2,000 to 60,000 tons per year. Financial details regarding the partnership were not disclosed.
In a relevant fact sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), the company reported that the partnership aims to create a platform for plastic recycling and improve the waste management system in Brazil, combining Ambipar‘s expertise in plastic waste collection with Dow’s knowledge in material sciences.
The partnership also aims to build new Mechanical Recycling facilities, transforming plastic waste into post-consumer resin, and develop a detailed financial model for mechanical recycling.
Leticia Jensen from Dow and Tercio Borlenghi Junior from Ambipar highlighted the positive impact of the partnership on the market and the environment, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen recycling cooperatives.
The alliance aims to develop the first integrated center for the circular economy of polyethylene plastics in Brazil, establishing a new standard for circular business in the region.
Sabine Rossi and Rafael Tello emphasized the commitment to a sustainable business model and the synergy between the companies to transform waste into resources, promoting a more circular vision of the economy and the environment.
