Rio de Janeiro, September 2024Ambipar, a Brazilian multinational and global leader in environmental solutions, is participating in ROG.e 2024 (formerly Rio Oil & Gas), taking place until Thursday (09/26) in Rio de Janeiro. The company is responsible for offsetting the carbon emissions of one of the world’s largest energy events, estimated at over 1.7 thousand tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). This initiative is a partnership between Ambipar and the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum and Gas (IBP).

Additionally, the company has a booth at ROG.e (Warehouse 4, Corridor C), where it showcases the STW Response, a new firefighting robot created by Ambipar Response, a subsidiary focused on crisis management and environmental emergency response.

With 10 hours of operational autonomy, the new robot is one of the technologies developed by Ambipar to combat wildfires, which are recurrent in Brazil. The equipment is the result of the company’s continuous investment in research and development, being one of the most advanced in the world and the only one certified to operate in classified zones, such as the oil and gas industry.

The STW Response offers several improvements over the previous model designed for industrial operations. With 100% Brazilian technology and development, it is made with specific materials and components, capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 600º C for up to 15 minutes.

Thanks to its new system, the robot can be operated remotely from up to 300 meters away, with signal feedback via Wi-Fi. This allows the control room to have real-time access to images and monitor the operation. The equipment is equipped with front, rear, and side cameras, as well as night and thermal cameras.

The STW Response, in addition to offering cutting-edge solutions for the global emergency response market, aligns with the core mission of Ambipar Response: providing fast and effective responses to accidents involving hazardous chemicals and pollutants that threaten health, the environment, and property.

The robot features a movement system that uses a bronze-aluminum alloy instead of rubber, preventing spark generation on the ground. This design allows the equipment to safely access areas with fuel leaks, avoiding human exposure to risk.

The equipment is prepared for various scenarios, capable of extinguishing fires with foam, water, and dry chemical powder. It operates a rapid-attack cannon system, unique in the world, which can shoot up to 90 kg of powder at a distance of 20 meters.

Another key feature of the STW Response is its water flow capability. It can discharge up to 32,000 liters of water per minute, while a fire truck typically stores only 5,000 to 15,000 liters, depending on its size.

“It’s the highest water flow in a robotic system in the world. Under normal circumstances, it would require at least 10 professionals to release the same volume of water,” says Rafael Espírito Santo, CEO of Ambipar Response.

A firefighting team typically takes 10 to 15 minutes to prepare for a call, whereas the robot can respond as soon as the alarm is triggered.

The equipment is also impact-resistant, capable of withstanding debris falling from structures. It features a next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, ensuring durability for up to 20,000 charge and discharge cycles, and is 100% recyclable.
