Ambify by Ambipar and Rally dos Sertões team up in search of a zero carbon event

The company expects to offset more than 3,000 tons of carbon dioxide emitted during the competition.

Ambify, an Ambipar company focused on carbon tokenization initiatives, joined the Sertões Rally 2022 with the expectation of offsetting 3,400 tons of CO2 over the course of the races. Participants in the event, which will begin this Friday (26), in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), will cross eight states and all five regions of Brazil until September 10.

To estimate CO2 emissions, the Ambify technology was used, based on the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program and audited by SGS, based on information gathered by the event organizers. The carbon credits used to offset the rally are certified by Verra’s VCS Program, the largest international certification authority for carbon credit projects in the voluntary market.

“We arrived to contribute and strengthen actions for the benefit of society and the environment, making the Sertões International Rally a zero carbon event. We hope that this partnership will be the first of many, and together we can make society aware of the importance of combating climate change and preserving the environment”, commented João Valente, director of digital assets at Ambipar.

Through its platform, Ambify offers the possibility of offsetting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the sale of crypto-assets backed by carbon credits. Thus, whoever acquires the tokens invests, even if indirectly, in projects that remove CO2 from the air.
