Ambipar announced on Tuesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Dow to increase polyethylene recycling in Brazil from 2,000 to 60,000 tons per year by 2030, according to a relevant market announcement.

“The companies aim to combine their business intelligence with the goal of capturing plastic materials from post-consumption sources, such as municipal solid waste, and transforming them into products that incorporate plastic material,” the companies stated.

The “preliminary assessment” involves a phased approach over the next five years for building new mechanical recycling facilities to transform 80,000 tons of plastic waste into approximately 60,000 tons of post-consumer resin (PCR) per year, according to the companies, without mentioning financial details of the agreement.
