The company Biofílica Ambipar Environment promotes this Wednesday, from 9am to 12pm, the Redd+ Pantanal Workshop, an event to evaluate opportunities in carbon credit operations, especially with a focus on livestock in the Pantanal. The event takes place in the auditorium of Famasul (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso do Sul).

The company has just returned from Egypt, where it participated in the COP27 (United Nations Climate Conference), therefore, it will be bringing the latest news regarding this type of operation.

Rural producers, researchers from Embrapa, Semagro-MS, Sidagro (Secretary of Innovation, Economic Development and Agribusiness of Campo Grande), among other authorities, were invited to learn more about the advantages of what has been called “bioeconomy”.

The great advantage of exploiting carbon credits is that it creates a new crop on the farm, without facing market fluctuations. “It’s a new annual revenue, without disbursement,” summarizes Homero Fligliolini, operator of the carbon credit market.

According to him, carbon sequestration involves an international market with great demand, which requires methodology and projects with credibility to have liquidity.

Carbon Credits

The purchase of carbon credits is an internationally recognized solution for companies, people and governments to neutralize carbon emissions from their operations which could not be avoided. When a company is carbon neutral, it means that it offsets the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its operations. The most common and cost-effective way to offset these emissions is through the purchase of carbon credits or offsets. There are several types of carbon credits, as different activities and projects can lead to a reduction or removal of CO2. Biofílica’s credits are generated through two mechanisms, REDD+ and AR (Afforestation/Reforestation).

Who is Biofílica Ambipar?

Biofílica Ambipar develops projects that promote the reduction and sequestration of carbon emissions through forest conservation and reforestation, valuing standing forests and their environmental services and protecting biodiversity. In addition, it invests in scientific research and in the socioeconomic development of the communities that live in these areas.
